From our happy clients

Chris Bassett from Designpoint helped take my vision of turning my single storied 70s plastic house into 2 separate dwellings making use of views and sun keeping it light and bright into a reality. Chris was always avaialble to discuss and provide excellent advice and happy to really listen to what I wanted...if it was realistic in my budget!. No mean feat considering I was ocerseas for the duration. His coordination with rhe builders Brown Brothers from Walkworth (excellent builders!) helped to find solutions to any potential problems. I would not heitate to recommend Designpoint based in Snells beachRead More

Friends and family who visit our new home ask if we had an architect and was it worthwhile. “Yes and “YES”. After living in many different homes throughout our lives and looking through countless house, home and architecture magazines, we had lots of ideas with a long wish list. Chris was not fazed by the huge scrapbook of cut out photos showing what we liked in the way of design, style, and materials. His only comment was that if we added any more we would need a trolley when visiting his office next time! The first thing we noticed when consulting with Chris was his ability to listen and listen some more. So when looking at the initial plans we were surprised at how much they represented what we had imagined. The only large alteration to plans was when we had to “shrink” one end of the house due to budget constraints. Chris always let us know where he was with plans and how long certain stages would take. He was on time and very proactive in getting plans through council which can often be the huge hold up in the whole pre-build process. We love our house, the design, the feel of it, the way it takes full advantage of the views out to sea and the practical aspects of moving around within it. We are still discovering the details that make us thing “Oh, that’s why this is here or why it was done this way” – All pleasant surprises. After visiting, friends have commented “Your house is beautiful and such an expression of you” Isn’t that exactly what anyone would ask of an architect?Read More

I engaged Designpoint with a fairly detailed brief and some clear functional ideas. The most important aspect for me was the ability to work together over detailed aspects of the design in order to understand the final outcome. I enjoyed the working relationship and found Designpoint very available and easy to engage with. The design of this 400m2 contemporary house was completed on time and to a fixed budget. The engagement between Designpoint and the builder enabled a speedy completion of Code Compliance at the end of the project. I am totally satisfied with the finished outcome of the design including positioning on a 1500m2 site and the connection with final landscape effects.Read More
